Frequently Asked Questions

"FAQs..... aren't they a bit retro?"

Well, yeah, a little. But look - we've been building websites and helping organisations grow since 2010. We've gained loads of experience of the sorts of questions people want to ask of us, so here's a selection of them, and our answers.

I’m new to this whole website thing, how does it work?

Don't panic - we're not new to it. We've got a rock-solid process for finding out what your business or organisation needs, seeing if we're the right agency to help with it and then guiding you through at every step. It can start with an enquiry form, or jump straight to a project application if you're ready to tell us more about your plans.

How much does a website cost?

The cost of a website can vary depending on various factors, just like the cost of a house may vary. Our website projects generally start from around £2,500 for basic business sites and are higher for sites that need more.

We don't do 'template websites' and we don't oversell. We only take on a project if we're sure you'll see a serious return on investment by following our advice.

How long does it take to design and build a website?

This totally depends on how big and complex your site is, and how much you already have ready to go. If you've got all your content and branding in place, it might take as little as four weeks.

Do I need my own domain name and web hosting?

We can handle that for you. We work with some of the best hosting providers and can give you options to match your needs. You can host your site yourself too if you prefer, as long as it's up to spec.

Will my website work on mobile devices?

Of course! It'll look great on mobile, desktop/laptop and on tablet. Just try not to ask about [gulp] Internet Explorer unless you really need to...

Do you do ecommerce/shopping websites?

Yes. We'll want to know you're ready to make a success of it before working with you though, because making an online store profitable isn't easy and we have a strict 'no white elephants' policy.

What is a Content Management System?

A Content Management System (CMS) is a tool that allows you to maintain the pages of your website yourself, without the need for any technical skills. It allows you to edit and add pages, images, products or blog entries to your website. No computer or phone apps are required – just a web browser with an internet connection.

Do you provide training?

Our founder (Nik) used to be a teacher, and training our clients on how to use their sites is his favourite part of our process.

Can you help me with Social Media, Email Marketing and Pay-Per-Click Campaigns?

Absolutely. We can help you with loads of different strategies to make your message heard and get the types of conversion you need, whether they're enquiries, sales, donations or something else.

What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

Getting your website highly visible in Google and other search engines is one of the most important ways to grow your site and raise conversions. Getting higher up the results pages for search phrases that matter to your audience is a priority for any growing business.

Search Engine Optimisation is all about getting your website higher up in the search results on search engines such as Google. The higher up the results you are the more traffic (and customers) you’re likely to get.

There are many aspects that go into achieving long term SEO results. One of the most important is the copy (words) on your website. Focusing on well-written content that's rich in your most valuable keywords is the key.

Do you write the content for my site?

We certainly can. Writing takes time and focus, alongside a deep understanding of your business and its target audience, so it's not an automatic inclusion in all of our projects. But we definitely offer it and will actually insist on it when we're helping you with your SEO.

Can you design my logo and tell me what colours to use?

Yep. We work with some of the most talented and insightful designers in Leeds and can always include a tailored branding package as part of a website project.

What is a domain name?

It's your address online. In the old days they nearly all ended in .com, .org or .uk, but now there's over 1000 different options to choose from! They're taking a while to catch on, though, so bagging a good .com or .co.uk name is still really important.

(We love .genting and .ninja, but can't imagine why you'd ever use them)

What is web hosting?

Web hosting is a service that allows your website to be viewed on the internet. It's a combination of servers and routers that store and assemble your pages when someone browses to them.

I made it to the end of the page - do I get a prize?

You know what - why not? You can have your choice of:

  • 10% off any of our Website Care Plans for a year
  • Free superfast and secure website hosting with any Care Plan
